ABOUT
An Oriental painter who departed from the classical style of ink painting, Lee Wal-jong pursued the modernization of ink-and-color work and attempted a contemporary fusion of Korean painting. Lee taught as a professor of Oriental painting at Chugye University for the Arts from 1979, left the post in 1990 and moved to Seogwipo, Jeju Island, where Lee continues to work. Lee is famous for the series made from life on Jeju, “The Middle Way of Jeju Life.”
